Universities

We have some of the world’s best Universities within our region. Hosting 10 Universities we can access clinical and academic leaders.

Leeds Beckett University

Leeds Beckett University specialises in applied research, with thematic strengths in obesity, active lifestyles, psychological wellbeing, dementia, community-based wellbeing and the reduction of health inequalities.

Leeds Trinity University

Leeds Trinity University’s internationally recognised research covers mental health, recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, and tinnitus. Many of its apprenticeship degrees support health and care and it is renowned for including professional work placements with every degree.

NHS organisations and Healthcare partnerships

With 3 Integrated Care boards and 23 healthcare providers the healthcare system for Yorkshire and Humber supports a population of 5.5 million people. With acute, community and specialist providers as well as over 400 GPs across the region we have comprehensive healthcare services for our population.

NIHR

The Yorkshire and Humber NIHR infrastructure is a comprehensive framework supporting health and care research through a network of clinical research centres, collaborations, and specialised facilities. It includes the NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN), Applied Research Collaboration (ARC), and Biomedical Research Centres (BRCs) in Leeds and Sheffield, which focus on areas like musculoskeletal diseases, neuroscience, and cardiovascular health. This infrastructure enables clinical trials, fosters public and patient involvement, and promotes innovation, addressing local health challenges and translating research into practical healthcare solutions for the region.

We are Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber. We are one of 15 organisations set up by NHS England to operate as the key innovation arm of the NHS. Across the country we act as a bridge between health care providers, commissioners, academia and industry. By connecting these sectors, we help to build a pipeline of solutions for the NHS from research and product development through to implementation and commercialisation.

MedConnect North

MedConnect North offers a bespoke service to SMEs, national and international medical technology companies, providing guidance and assistance throughout the Medical Technology Research and Innovation Pathway. Our mission is to assist the launch of new technologies and services into the NHS, enhancing patient care.

We provide expert project management, including IRAS application, regulatory approvals, and protocol development. Partnering with skilled statisticians and methodologists, we ensure your project’s success.
